Neil Hornby- Managing Director
Neil has over 30 years’ experience of working in a variety of secondary educational establishments. Initially as a Geography teacher, and then Head of Humanities. Neil has a Master’s Degree in Special Educational Needs. He has experience of teaching and managing staff within a Community Special School. In 2007 Neil became the founder and manager at the Bridge.
As a Director Neil is responsible for fundraising, accounts and site development. Neil is also a trainer and an assessor. Neil is a coach for a variety of courses including construction, horticulture, mechanics and personal and social development.
Sue Hornby- Head teacher
Sue has been involved at the Bridge since the start. She has a background of working in marketing within an Educational establishment. Sue has a Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies and other qualifications in Organic Horticulture and Quality Assurance Award. As headteacher she is responsible for Internal Quality Assurance, health & safety, staff recruitment and development and safeguarding. Sue is also a trainer and an assessor. Sue also works as a coach in a variety of curriculum subjects.
Kathleen Barclay– Deputy Head teacher
Kath is responsible for arranging new schools and students. She sets up contracts and service level agreements with sending agencies. Kath is also involved in financial matters and marketing. She liaises with parent/carers and sending agencies and attends multi-agency meetings.
Richard Love – Programmes Manager and Coach
Richard is the programmes manager responsible for producing individual timetables and data management. He is also a coach working with school groups and bespoke students. Richard coaches bespoke students in skills for working life and practical skills. Richard is also responsible for information technology.
Jackie Penfold – Pastoral Co-ordinator
Jackie supports the students on a day to day basis.
Lynn Robinson- Functional Skills Tutor
Lynn is our lead tutor for Maths and English working one to one or with small groups of bespoke students.
Chris works full-time as a coach for school groups completing construction courses. He also coaches bespoke students in a variety of activities, such as construction, woodwork, animal care, cookery and employability. Chris takes students off site for work experience to gain valuable construction skills on real building jobs.
Clare works as a full time coach working with bespoke students and school groups.
Lisa is a full time coach responsible for looking after the animals and teaching the animal care City and Guides qualification.
Sarah is a full-time coach working with bespoke students primarily teaching Functional Skills
Hayley is a full-time coach working with bespoke students primarily teaching Functional Skills
Kerry O Brien
Kerry works full-time as a coach with bespoke students working often mentoring one to one or with small groups of students.
Holly is a full time coach and responsible for delivering art and craft.
Richie is the environmental coach, working outside with small groups of students.
Babs is a full-time coach who is responsible for physical education.
Judith Baker – Exams Officer
Judi is responsible for work relating to the students obtaining qualifications and assisting with financial matters. Judi also teaches music lessons.
Diane Hancock – Administrator
Diane is the administrator responsible for record keeping of staff and student records and overseeing day to day procedures. She is the volunteers coordinator and clerk of governors.
Tara Spaul- Receptionist/ admin
Tara works as the receptionist at the Bridge Training and Development Hanley site.
