Bridge Training and Development is an exciting alternative education provision based at Hanley Swan, near Malvern in Worcestershire. We are a registered charity and were established in 2007 with the aim of engaging children and young people in learning. We provide education and training for students  from secondary schools, as well as bespoke programmes for students who are not in mainstream education.

Receptionist/PA (Term Time Only- 8.45am-3pm)

Main purpose of job
• To welcome students guests and greet people who visit the school
• To coordinate front-desk activities, including distributing correspondence and redirecting phone calls
• To support the SLT in the smooth running of the school
• To promote the ethos and good reputation of the school
Main duties and responsibilities
• Greet and welcome students and guests as soon as they arrive at the Centre
• Cultivate a positive and supportive atmosphere
• Maintain security by following procedures; maintaining fire register
• Issue visitor badges; storing student personal items
• Keep accurate attendance records of students and staff
• Answering, screening and forwarding incoming phone calls
• Carry out tours of site and introduction to BTD
• Receive, sort and distribute daily mail/deliveries
• Maintain safe and tidy reception area
• Update calendars and schedule meetings
• Administer petty cash and keep accurate records
• Maintaining filing system for business purposes and students
• Co-ordinate educational visits by ensuring risk assessments and visit forms are completed prior to off site
• Fire officer and first aider (training provided)
• Any other tasks required to help in the efficient functioning of the Centre
Person Specification
You will be a person of integrity; be able to maintain confidentiality and be sympathetic to the needs of students and staff. You need to be happy working in a dynamic environment. You need to be naturally supportive and encouraging towards young people with a broad range of needs, and towards staff working to deadlines or in challenging roles. You need to be well organised and disciplined to keep on track.
Your calm reassurance and excellent communication skills will contribute significantly to the smooth running the Centre. You will have an openness to learning and change; and have a positive attitude to personal development and training.
Essential Skills/Experience
A proven track record of excellent organisational and administrative skills
Experience of computer packages such as MS word and Excel
Experienced in PA role
Empathy towards young people with a range of needs including some with challenging behaviour
Professional attitude and appearance
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
Customer service attitude
A great sense of humour
Desirable Skills/Experience
Experience of working in an educational environment
Experience of working with/or knowledge of SEND young people
A driving license and willingness to transport students if required.
A willingness to undertake additional training
