Students on an Education Health Care Plan, or the student is a Looked After Child/Young Person then they may have access to additional funding post 16 years of age to enable them to attend the Bridge Business Centre.
We offer a small group of year 12-14 year individuals the opportunity to train in a real work environment. The Bridge Business Centre has three businesses based on site where students can pick up relevant understanding, skills and experience that will give them the head-start they need in preparing for a working life. The three business areas are manufacturing, catering and retail. Students will choose the business area they wish to train in. The business tutor will support the students to gain City and Guilds Employability Skills. Career Co-ordinators work with trainees to provide career guidance, job searching, interview skills and work with students to gain units towards the City and Guilds Employability Skills.
When students are ready there will be a greater emphasis in Year 13 on trainees gaining work experience appropriate to the work interest of the young person. These placements will be supported by the Career Co-ordinators.
